University of Texas Regents to Review Campus Carry Plans

14 UT campuses submitted plans for where guns can, can't be

The governing body of the University of Texas System is scheduled to meet in Austin Wednesday to review plans from its member schools on how to best implement the Campus Carry law.

Campus Carry will allow licensed gun owners to carry concealed handguns on public university campuses.

The UT System schools were required to submit final proposals to the Board of Regents by mid-December.

On the campus of the University of Texas at Arlington, the proposal includes a list of buildings that would be exempt from the law, meaning guns would not be allowed.

The list includes athletic facilities, mental health facilities, childcare facilities and some special use locations, including dormitories specifically during summer youth camps held on the campus and in any university building during a public forum.
