US Postal Service, UPS Prepare For Busiest Shipping Day

We are in the home stretch of the holiday season and Monday marks the busiest day of shipping in the United States.

Millions of cards and packages will crisscross the country for Christmas and the holidays. The US Postal service predicts that Thursday will be the busiest day for deliveries, with 30 million packages delivered on that peak delivery day alone.

Estimates show that between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve, 750 million packages will travel through the postal service. UPS will deliver about 700 million packages during the same period.

UPS says on Monday, drivers will deliver more than 393 packages every second within a 24-hour period.

This busy shipping season means more jobs with UPS hiring 95,000 seasonal employees and 35,000 hired at the US Postal Service.
