Some students at the University of North Texas handed out free cigarettes Monday to protest a proposed smoking ban.
A group called Young Americans for Liberty is opposed to a proposal that would ban smoking on campus.
Leaders of the group said the university shouldn't be allowed to make those kind of rules.

With the free cigarettes, protesters will also be asking students to sign a petition.
The current UNT policy on smoking prohibits smoking inside buildings and university vehicles. Smokers must also be 25 feet from any building.
