The Texas Department of Transportation wants to expand state Highway 360 south of 20 as a toll road.
TxDOT wants to expand the highway and add toll lanes between Camp Wisdom/East Sublett Road, south of Interstate 20 along the Arlington and Grand Prairie city limits south to U.S. 287 in Mansfield.
The proposed $300 million project would add two toll lanes in each direction from Camp Wisdom to E. Broad Street, and one toll lane in each direction from E. Broad Street to 287.
About 80,000 vehicles drive that stretch of highway daily, according to TxDOT. It’s notorious for rush hour congestion because 360 ultimately dead-ends into access roads at the 287 interchange.
The project could start in 2015 and it would take three years to finish.
TxDOT is having a public hearing about the project Thursday at 7 p.m. at Mansfield Timberview High School.
