Two Female Drug Suspects Linked to Stolen ID's: Sheriff

More than a hundred identities may have been stolen, investigators say

Two women arrested on drug charges in Hood County are under investigation for stealing people’s identities, authorities said.

Ginger Marie Phillips, 41, and Lisa Elaine Belanger, 50, were arrested on Friday when sheriff’s deputies searched a house in the 9500 block of Pittsburg in Cresson.

Inside the house, investigators found methamphetamine and the “date rape” drug GHB, said Hood County Sheriff Roger Deeds.

They also found evidence the two were involved in an identity theft ring with more than 100 victims, investigators said.

Deputies are working to notify victims whose personal information was stolen.

Belanger was still being held in the Hood County jail on Tuesday. Phillips was released on bond.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s office is assisting with the investigation.
