Dallas Fire-Rescue was called to the Veranda Apartments on the 6500 block of Melody Lane after a 2-inch gas line was struck at about 11 a.m. by a crew scraping the parking lot.

The line was ruptured and 24 apartments, housing about 30 people, were evacuated.

Apartment management was able to move the displaced residents into other residences for the time being, DFR officials said.

Crews with Atmos Energy were called to the scene to repair the ruptured line.

No injuries have been reported.
