Deputies with the Collin County Sheriff's Department were called to a home on the 300 block of Ingram Lane at about 5:45 p.m. Sunday.

Inside they found the bodies of 58-year-old Donald Zriny and his 26-year-old daughter, Amanda Zriny. Officials said Donald strangled his daughter to death, then hanged himself.

Officials have released few details in the case and have not said who originally called police to the home.

The Collin County Sheriff's Department is investigating after two people were found dead inside a home in Lucas.

Current Lucas Mayor Jim Olk confirmed Monday Donald Zriny spent several years on the City Council.

“It is truly sad when anyone loses their life. Don Zriny helped guide and mold the City of Lucas while he was on the Lucas City Council from 2005 through 2012. Our hearts and prayers go out to the family in this time of loss," Olk said.

According to a report from The Dallas Morning News, Zriny resigned in 2010 along with the mayor and city manager after allegations were made that some elected officials were interfering with city staffers.

NBC 5's Holley Ford contributed to this report.
