Traveler Being Monitored for Ebola in Dallas County

Dallas County Health and Human Services is monitoring a traveler for the Ebola virus after arriving Friday from West Africa.

The person, who was not identified, departed West Africa on Wednesday and is not exhibiting any symptoms of the disease, health officials said in a press release.

Further details on the traveler's route or mode of transportation were not released by the health department.

As part of the 21-day monitoring period, the person has been instructed to remain off public transportation and avoid large congregate settings activities.

Earlier this week, two health care workers from Dallas County began a 21-day monitoring period after arriving back in Dallas from Sierra Leone, where they were working to fight Ebola with the group Doctors Without Borders.

Like the traveler, the health care workers have not exhibited any symptoms of Ebola and are following the monitoring period guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Texas Department of State Health Services.
