Train Catches Fire in Tarrant County

Fort Worth Fire Department responded to a two-car train fire in Haslet Tuesday.

The train was being remote-controlled as it moved in the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) train yard.

According to the fire officials, the coupler that held the two cars together broke and tore open a fuel tank.

As the train moved along the tracks, it caused sparks which started the fire.

Firefighters responded quickly to the call, and extinguished the fire within 20 minutes.

Each train-car had approximately 3,000 gallons of diesel, but the situation was contained before the fire could react with the fuel.

The rest of the train was not damaged. No injuries or damages to the surrounding areas have been reported.

No further investigation will be held by the Fort Worth Fire Department.
