Victim Critical After Family Killed in Shooting

A man shot and wounded his estranged girlfriend and killed her son and her mother in a garage before killing himself at a home in North Richland Hills Tuesday evening, police say. The estranged girlfriend's toddler was found unharmed with blood on him.

Officers were called to the home on the 6500 block of Sunset around 10:30 Tuesday night after receiving several 911 calls from neighbors who reported hearing gunshots at the house.  Police discovered two women and one man inside the garage, and another man inside the home. All four had been shot.

Tamara Jones, 37, remained in critical condition Wednesday following the shooting Tuesday night. Kristin Jones, 55, and Tyler Heiliger, 17, were killed.

A toddler who lived at the house was not injured, neighbors say.

Both men were dead by the time police arrived. The women were transported to John Peter Smith Medical Center in Fort Worth, where Jones died a short time later.

Jones' next door neighbor, Maria Hernandez, said she heard the gunshots and saw Jones' body laying in the driveway near the open garage. Neighbors who ran to help also noticed the toddler in the garage and took the toddler inside while police investigated the deadly shooting.

The shooter, whose name has not yet been released, was found dead of a gunshot wound inside the home.

North Richland Hills Police Lt. Billy Privett said no motive for the shooting has been established.
