Thousands of Girl Scouts to Gather for ‘Cookies Now!'

Look for cookies to be on sale Saturday

On Saturday, thousands of Girl Scouts will descend upon the Fort Worth Zoo to pick up starter packs of cookies for direct sale.

The pickup begins at 10 a.m., so if you're lucky you'll see them for sale somewhere near you by 11 a.m.

In 2011, the event drew 2,600 Girl Scouts who picked up 32,000 cases of cookies.

“This year, record numbers of girls and adults are expected to participate in the Cookie Sale as we kick off celebrations of the Girl Scouts 100th Anniversary,” said Debbie Turner, Director of Product Sales for the local council. "This is going to be a blockbuster event. Thousands of girls line up every year. It’s amazing to see their smiling faces and feel their excitement.”

The annual cookie sale runs from Jan. 6 to Feb. 19 and each box of cookies costs $3.50. All proceeds benefit local Girl Scout troops.
