The Metroplex Recycles Trees After Christmas

Creating a Green Environment

Throughout the metroplex, an end to the holiday season is marked with recycling.

In an effort to remain green, many cities are calling on residents to recycle their Christmas trees. It is important to note that all decorations must be removed from the raw Christmas trees before recycling (do not place the tree in a plastic bag).

Here is a list of a few cities in the metroplex with tree recycling programs and the necessary requirements. If you have any questions, check with your local city government:

Dallas

Dallas' Sanitation Services Department is partnering with Home Depot to make the job a little easier. Residents have until Jan. 2, 2012 to return Christmas trees to one of 7 Dallas Home Depot Stores listed below:

Residents can also leave the trees curbside along with their brush to be picked up by the City's curbside brush collection.

Fort Worth

To use a drop-off station in Fort Worth, residents must show a recent Fort Worth water bill and current ID with a Fort Worth address. Renters with a Fort Worth address must show a current Fort Worth water bill to use the drop-off station. Apartment renters may use the stations for recyclables only. There are three drop-off stations:

Brennan

Southeast

Hours of operation:

Monday - Friday: 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Saturday: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Arlington

In Arlington, residents have until Jan. 9, 2012 to drop-off their Christmas trees at two main drop off centers.

Trees placed curbside will not be recycled, but will be collected if they are under 6 feet.

Plano

Beginning Jan. 3, 2012, homeowners can place Christmas trees curbside for the Sustainability & Environmental Services Department to recycle. Apartment residents have until Jan. 9, 2012 to drop their tree off at one of three recycling centers:

Denton

Residents can either leave the tree at the curb or drop it off at the Landfill:
