The Longest Day: Alzheimer's Association Raises Awareness

Residents challenge themselves to participate in all day relay

Wednesday, June 20, marks the beginning of summer and the longest day of the year.

Alzheimer’s Association is taking the opportunity to raise awareness with a sunrise-to-sunset relay at White Rock Lake. The Longest Day is a sunrise-to-sunset relay to raise funds to fuel the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Participants will be challenged to push their physical limits and complete 16 hours of endurance activities such as biking, running or walking.

Everyone is encouraged to attend, even if not for the full 16 hours. According to Traci Beeson of Alzheimer’s Association, it’s a group effort and all about raising awareness.

It’s going to be hot tomorrow, so be sure to bring plenty of water and sunscreen.
