TEXpress Lanes Open from State Highway 161 to Westmoreland Road

Phase two and three to come for I-30 TEXpress plan

New TEXpress lanes along Interstate 30 are open to traffic Monday between Grand Prairie and Dallas.

Monday's opening is only phase one of the three-part 18.7-mile plan for I-30 which includes a 9-mile stretch from west of Texas 161 east to near Westmoreland Road.

"The segment features two reversible lanes, improved TEXpress Lane access including direct-connect ramps and upgraded connections to and from the main lanes as well as four entrance ramps and four exit ramps," according to the Texas Department of Transportation's webpage.

The next phase along I-30 will open in the summer of 2017 and will continue the TEXpress lanes east to Sylvan Avenue.

By 2020, the I-30 TEXpress project will be completed with the addition of lanes from Center Street in Arlington east to Texas 161.

The cost to drive the I-30 TEXpress lanes is variable depending on time of day and whether or not the driver has a TollTag.
