Texas Tech Walk-On Surprised With Scholarship

Cameras were rolling when Justus Parker, a walk-on defensive back for the Texas Tech Red Raiders, was told he'd been awarded a scholarship.

Parker, a sophomore from La Vernia, was sitting with the team in the locker room when head coach Kliff Kingsbury began playing a video.

In the video, former Red Raider Danny Amendola, who plays for the New England Patriots, called out Parker saying he loved the way he played and represented the team. Amendola then tossed to his Patriots teammate, Rob Gronkowski, who told Parker he was now on scholarship.

After, Parker was surrounded by his cheering teammates for more than 30 seconds.

The video Kingsbury put on Twitter ended with a clip of Parker intercepting a pass late in the game against the University of Texas. The Red Raiders were behind 23-20 at the time, but would go on to score and win the game 27-20.

Kingsbury's video, as of this writing, has been viewed more than 500,000 times.
