The Harris County Sheriff's Office said a deputy died after an SUV driver crossed into oncoming traffic and struck his patrol car.
Authorities said the 32-year-old deputy died Wednesday morning after being flown to an area hospital. His identity hasn't been released.
The deputy's vehicle landed in a drainage ditch after the SUV hit the car head-on near Baytown. The female driver of the SUV, whose condition is unknown, was taken to an area hospital. A male passenger was treated at the scene.
Their identities haven't been released.
