A Houston area man accused of throwing a desk drawer and other items at officers and smashing a window during the Jan. 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol has been arrested, federal authorities announced Friday.

Shane Jenkins was arrested Friday morning at his home, according to the FBI's Houston office.

According to a criminal complaint, Jenkins attended the Washington rally in support of President Donald Trump and then joined the mob that breached the Capitol.

FBI agents identified Jenkins from a tip and videos posted on social media and security footage. They allege he used a hatchet to cause $1,500 in damage to a window and threw various items at officers, hitting them with items such as a desk drawer and a flagpole, according to the criminal complaint.

At least five people, including a Capitol Police officer, died due to the violence, and two other officers killed themselves after. More than 300 people have been charged with federal crimes.

Jenkins faces six charges, including assaulting a federal officer and damage to federal property. Court records didn't list an attorney for Jenkins.

Authorities said Jenkins is the fourth Houston area resident charged in the riot.

As of Feb. 26, according to the George Washington University Program on Extremism, federal charges have been filed against more than 254 people associated with the riot, including North Texans Garret Miller, of Richardson; Larry Rendall Brock, of Grapevine; Nolan Cooke, of Savoy; Jennifer Leigh Ryan, of Frisco; Guy Wesley Reffitt, of Wylie; Troy Anthony Smocks, of Dallas; Nicholas DeCarlo, of Burleson; Daniel Goodwyn of Corinth; Jason Hyland, of McKinney; Katherine Schwab; Luke Coffee, of Dallas; and Daniel Caldwell, of The Colony.
