Texas Man Gets Life in Prison for Murder of Coach

An East Texas man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole after pleading guilty to capital murder.

The Cherokee County district attorney tells the Tyler Morning Telegraph 26-year-old Jimmy Mosley agreed to the plea deal on Monday. He was charged in the 2012 murder of 43-year-old Stacy Hunter, a Jacksonville coach.

The attorney says Hunter's family was pleased with the outcome.

Mosley shot Hunter at a nightclub in Oct. 2012. His capital murder charge was punishable by the death penalty.

Hunter worked for the city of Jacksonville for 20 years and coached area football and basketball youth leagues. A Jacksonville recreational center was named after him last year.
