Texas Man Charged With Killing Ex-Girlfriend, Wounding Son

A man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and wounding her son at a Central Texas house was earlier charged with stalking her.

McLennan County jail records show James Ray Brossett  was being held Wednesday on capital murder and attempted capital murder charges. The Arlington man is also charged with stalking, violating a protective order and harassment.

Laura Patschke was fatally shot early Monday at her home near Crawford. Her 18-year-old son was shot in the arm.

Brossett was captured hours later near Burleson. He's held without bond on the capital murder charge, with $547,000 bond on the other counts.

Court documents released Tuesday indicate Brossett was charged last week with stalking Patschke, allegedly sending about 200 text messages.

Online jail records don't list an attorney to speak for Brossett.
