A 27-year-old Lubbock man is jailed on charges of injuring a child after his 3-month-old daughter drowned in a bathtub.
Michael Wayne Livesay is in the Lubbock County jail without bond, accused of endangerment that led to the death of Vera Ruth Livesay.
A Lubbock police statement says paramedics were called to Livesay's home about 11 a.m. Wednesday. They were performing CPR on the infant when police arrived before taking her to University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
Police Lt. Ray Mendoza says Livesay told officers that the child was sitting in a bathtub seat when he left the room. He said that when he returned, the child had slipped from the seat into the water and was unresponsive.
Jail records list no attorney for Livesay.
