Texas Department of Transportation Checks Slope Failures After Tropical Storm Bill

Recent rains have caused two small mudslides near a bridge along Interstate 30 and Loop 12, but road crews say they pose no immediate threat.

The Texas Department of Transportation described them as "slope failures" and said one was on each side of the bridge, said spokeswoman Michelle Releford.

She said inspectors determined the areas were stable and did not threaten the highway or bridge.

"If there is some cause for concern, we'll close the shoulder and that area will be moved up on the list for emergency repair," she said in an email.

Releford said she could not give a timetable for when the repairs would be made.

Releford also said with all the recent rain "we're going to be seeing more of this."
