Texas County Where Tombstone Fell, Killed Boy, to Fix Site

Leaders of a West Texas county have approved an agreement to fix headstones at a cemetery where a 4-year-old boy died last year when a tombstone fell on him.

Ector County Commissioners on Monday approved a master service agreement with Sadler Monument Works of Slaton.

The Odessa American reports no dollar amount was immediately available for the deal to help maintain the Ector County Cemetery in Odessa.

Police said Levi Driver died in May 2015 when a nearly 100-year-old headstone toppled on him.

County Judge Ron Eckert said the service agreement is to make sure something similar does not happen again.

Eckert declined to release details about the investigation into the incident, which happened as the boy was with his family visiting a grave site.
