The Defense Department says a soldier from East Texas has been killed in Iraq.
DOD on Tuesday announced 21-year-old Pfc. Heath K. Pickard of Palestine died October 16th in Balad of wounds suffered from indirect fire in Baquaba, Iraq.
Pickard was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Fort Wainwright, Alaska.
