Testimony Underway for Officer Accused of Excessive Force

Testimony began in the trial of a former Dallas police officer on Thursday.

Former officer Quaitemes Williams is accused of using excessive force during an arrest in January 2011.

Williams is accused of kicking and spraying mace on Rodarick Lyles after he was handcuffed.

Lyles was pulled over after his plates did not match his vehicle. He also had a suspended license.

The entire incident was caught on a dashboard camera.

Lyles took the stand Thursday morning and parts of the video were shown.

After the allegations came out against Williams, he was fired. He had been on the force for three years.

If found guilty, he could face one year in jail.
