Temple Issues Boil Water Notice

Water conservation measures in place

A storm-related water system problem for a Central Texas city has eased but a boil water notice remains in effect.

Officials in Temple on Monday announced water conservation measures also remain.

Storms on Saturday night led to a power outage at Temple's water treatment plant.

Residents of the city of about 66,000 were advised Sunday morning to boil water for drinking, cooking and making ice. Mayor William Jones issued a disaster declaration and residents were told to discontinue all city supplied-water use.

Storage tanks are being replenished. Levels improved Monday to allow the disaster declaration to be dropped. Stage 3 water restrictions remain in place for irrigation of landscaped areas.

Officials had no timeline for when the boil water advisory will end.
