Teens Crash After Police Pursuit, 3 Critically Injured: Police

Three teenagers were severely hurt Thursday afternoon after their vehicle crashed in Fort Worth following a short police pursuit, police say.

It all unfolded at about 1 p.m., when an Everman Police School Resource Officer responding to Everman High School reported seeing a car occupied by five teenagers speeding away from the area.

The driver was forcing other vehicles off the roadway, the officer reported, so the officer switched on his lights and siren and pursued the vehicle, but the chase didn't last long.

It became too dangerous to pursue, and the officer stopped, but the car kept going.

Shortly thereafter, that same car was involved in a crash with another vehicle at the intersection of Everman Parkway and the northbound Interstate 35W Frontage Road in Fort Worth.

Fort Worth Police, Fort Worth Fire and MedStar responded to the crash scene.

Three of the teenagers were transported to the hospital with critical injuries. One other teen had serious, but not life-threatening injuries, and the fifth had minor injuries, according to MedStar.

The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating the circumstances of the crash.

NBC 5 reached out to the Everman Independent School District Thursday evening to find out if the teens were students at Everman High School, but have not heard back.
