A 14-year-old girl who previously told Dallas police that a man in a ski mask abducted her from a bus stop and sexually assaulted her in a nearby park last week has recanted her statement, police say. [[362606181,C]]
The victim told investigators a masked man grabbed her by the arm and forced her to walk with him shortly after she stepped off her school bus in the 500 block of E. 8th Street at about 6 p.m. on Dec. 10.
The teen said the man sexually assaulted her at Lake Cliff Park and ran off when he heard people approaching.
In an update released Thursday, Dallas police said after a follow-up interview with the teen and additional information provided by another agency, detectives have determined that the incident did not take place as reported.
Police said the investigation is continuing, but there is no community risk as previously described.
