A 14-year-old student in the Garland Independent School District was arrested Monday after making a social media threat to shoot up his middle school, police say.
According to police, the teen, who was not identified, made the threat Sunday against C.R. Lyles Middle School.
A school resource officer learned of the threat and contacted school staff and Garland police officers.
The boy faces a charge of exhibit to use a firearm at a school, a misdemeanor, police said.
Officers said the investigation is ongoing.
