Teen Allegedly Killed Family's Dogs in $20 Dispute

An East Texas teenager has been charged with opening fire and killing his family's dogs when his mother refused to give him $20.

The Angelina County Sheriff's Office said 17-year-old Colton David Cook of Huntington faces misdemeanor animal cruelty charges.

Online jail records Wednesday did not list Cook as still being in custody or an attorney for him.

Deputies were summoned to the family's home and arrested Cook Monday afternoon. Investigators said Cook became upset when his mother refused to give him $20, picked up a rifle and allegedly shot the family's three pit bulldogs.

Authorities said two dogs were dead at the scene. The third dog was wounded and had to be euthanized.
