A teacher's aide in the Northwest Independent School District has been fired after a video surfaced showing the man shove a student across a classroom then force the student into an adjacent room.
The incident happened during Saturday classes at Tidwell Middle School earlier this month.
A student in that class took the video and shared it on social media.
In the video, the teacher's aide is seen sitting next to a student. The male student appears to irritate the aide, who then kicks the desk away, grabs the student by the arm and throws him across the room. The aide then tells the student to "get in there" while opening a door.
NBC 5 reached out to Northwest ISD about the video, and the district responded with the following statement:
"On Sunday, April 9, Northwest ISD administration learned of an incident involving a teacher aide and student on Saturday, April 8. The employee was placed on administrative leave on Monday, April 10, while the district conducted an investigation. The employee is no longer a Northwest ISD staff member."
