The Road to Omaha resumes this weekend for TCU as they travel to College Station to face Texas A&M in the NCAA Baseball Super Regionals. With two more wins the Frogs are back in the College World Series.
“It’s exactly where we want to be,” said catcher Evan Skoug. “Every offseason we come in and work for this moment. We’re playing Texas A&M at their place and it’s going to be crazy. We’re excited about going down there and matching up with them.”
“It always comes down to the team that plays the best,” said TCU head coach Jim Schlossnagle. “We have to play better than them.”
“If we do, then we’ll be OK. If we don’t, I’ll be standing here in baseball camp next week,” he added.
TCU swept their way through the Fort Worth Regional. This season is the Frog’s third straight Super Regional appearance.
“We’re trying to win a national championship,” said pitcher Mitchell Traver. “The consistency in this program says a lot about this coaching staff and the way we prepare, so we are excited about the opportunity.”

It will be a rematch of last year’s Super Regional in Fort Worth. TCU won the series 2-1 in dramatic fashion with a walk-off win in 16 innings to advance to the College World Series.
“You got to remain humble, understand that baseball is a tough game and anything can happen, especially when you get to the playoffs,” said Traver. “We expect to win and play for a national championship every single year.”
This will be the first Super Regional for freshman Luken Baker, who was named second-team All-American on Tuesday. Baker led the Big 12 with a .387 batting average and 84 hits, and his 54 RBIs were tied for first in the conference. On the mound, he was 3-1 with a 1.70 ERA and 41 strikeouts. The stats were impressive, but the focus remains on Texas A&M and a chance to go to Omaha.
“All of us are really excited that we are in this position,” said Baker. “But like coach (Schlossnagle) told us at the beginning of the year, we expect to be in this position and a lot of guys are excited about playing Texas A&M again.”
This is TCU’s sixth Super Regional appearance in the last eight seasons, and the Frogs now find themselves two wins away from Omaha.
“There’s a lot on the line, obviously to get to Omaha,” said Schlossnagle. “Pretty proud of the fact there’s only four schools that has done at least six of the last eight years. We’re proud of that but we want to keep playing.”
