The Tarrant County district attorney's office says it's overwhelmed with alleged mortgage-loan fraud cases.
Investigators estimate more than $42 million in mortgage schemes in Tarrant County according to the Star-Telegram.
Last week, the economic-crimes unit received seven new cases.
While the number of potential cases seem to be rising, the FBI doesn't consider Texas to have a "significant mortgage-fraud problem."
California, Florida, Michigan, Nevada and Utah have that distinction.
