Swindlers Issue Phony Warrants in Tarrant County

Tarrant County Jury Services say swindlers may try to get residents to fork over up to $4,000 in fines to cover phony warrants for missed jury service.

Citizens should be aware of calls telling them there is a warrant out for their arrest for failing to appear for jury duty.  The swindler may suggest the only way out of the warrant is paying a fine through a Green Dot Money Card.

However, If Texas County Jury Services were truly issuing warrants, they would send a failed to appear notice before any warrant would be issued. Even then, issued warrants require no phone call.

If contacted with this scam, write down the phone number the person is calling from. Be sure not to release any personal information, and alert your local police department to file a complaint.
