Suspect Shot After Almost Hitting Officer with SUV

Fort Worth Police shot a person who tried to hit an officer with a vehicle Saturday night.

At about 10:15 p.m. an officer confronted a person they saw doing a drug transaction near Blandin St & NE 28th Street. The person ran for a vehicle and put it in reverse towards the officer. 

Police said the officer fired several shots towards the suspect, described as a white male in his mid-thirties.

The suspect, after being shot, fled the scene, causing a crash on Riverside Drive near Lancaster. The person in the other vehicle was not injured.

The suspect was taken into custody by police on the ramp to U.S. 287 and Riverfront. Officers administered aid to him until medics could arrive on scene.

He was taken to the hospital for his injuries and is in unknown condition.

The officer received minor injuries and was released from the hospital.
