Suspect in California Shootings Captured in Texas

Police say a suspect in California gunfire that left one man dead on a street and another wounded has been captured in Texas.

Amarillo police were notified by other officers to be on the lookout for Sadiki Sundiata Shakur. He was arrested Thursday night driving a rental car with Arizona license plates.

Shakur was sought on murder and attempted murder warrants for the Dec. 4 shootings in Ventura, California.

An off-duty California Highway Patrol sergeant heard gunshots, then found a wounded man on a road. He died. A second victim later arrived at a hospital. Ventura police believe the shootings were related.

Online Texas records don't list an attorney to speak for Shakur, who's held without bond. A man in the car Thursday with Shakur was arrested for marijuana possession.
