Suspect Arrested in Death of Teen Found in Dallas Creek

Dallas police have arrested a teenager suspected of killing a 16-year-old girl whose body was found Tuesday morning in a creek near Fair Park.

Police said the body of 16-year-old Jackeline Veloz was found at about 7:50 a.m. near the intersection of Scyene Road and Hatcher Street.

Investigators determined that Veloz's death was caused by homicide, and they interviewed several witnesses, including the teen's boyfriend.

Based on the interviews, a 16-year-old male was arrested in Veloz's death, but a motive in the death remains unknown, police said.

Police said the relationship between the victim and suspect is under investigation.

Unrelated to the homicide investigation, police arrested a witness in the case, 19-year-old Pablo Pedraza, for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and burglary of a motor vehicle.
