Sundance Square Using Valet to Ease Parking

Valet service free with validation from Sundance Square business

With construction tying up street parking, Sundance Square has opened a free valet to encourage people to visit downtown Fort Worth.

The valet stand is open on Main Street between Third and Fourth streets between 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Mondays through Friday.

"This service is absolutely free," said Tracy Gilmour, Sundance Square representative.

The valet costs $10 if the driver doesn't have validation from a Sundance Square business.

The square wants to make sure the number of visitors doesn't drop as construction picks up on the new plaza area along Main Street.

"Construction is always -- as nice as we've made -- always still a bit messy," Gilmour said. "Were trying to make sure our customers have a great experience when they're here."

A lot of people haven't heard of the new valet service because it's only in its third full week of operation.

"Yeah, I think it's a great idea," said Bonnie Baker, who was visiting Sundance Square on Thursday.

She said the construction keeps people from coming downtown.

Plenty of parking is available in area garages, but visitors such as Randy Boyd say they want closer parking.

"I'm not walking five blocks to come down here," he said.

Boyd said the new valet has him coming downtown more often.

"I love coming down here, but one of things that got me is parking, a lot of times," he said. "And with this, I'm coming down here three times a week now."

The valet is scheduled to be open until construction on the Main Street Plaza is completed next summer. But if it's successful, the square may keep it.
