Students Bond at Special Olympics Event

High school kids sometimes get a bad rap for being self-centered, but students at Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth shattered that reputation.

Nearly 300 students spent a half day with their "little buddies" for the annual Special Olympics Spring Games Wednesday.

Student and volunteer Rebeckah Garcia told NBCDFW the special guests came from the 3- through 5-year-old special needs classes at 16 elementary schools in the Fort Worth Independent School District.

The event at Farrington Field gave big and little kids a day of fun and a friendship that will be remembered.

This was the ninth time for Arlington Heights to partner with Special Olympics Texas and its Young Athletes Program.
