Strong Storms Roll Through North Texas

Heavy rain and strong winds hit north Texas with force Sunday, creating visibility issues and plane delays that snarled plans throughout the Dallas area on one of the year's busiest travel weekends.

One couple’s 2.5 hour flight turned into six hours while their plane flew around the storm.

“It was awful,” said Kim Stephan, from Wichita, Kansas. “Per the pilot, we could not land here in Dallas.”
While major delays affected flights, the storm also put a damper on some Memorial Day weekend plans. Many boaters at Lake Lewisville pulled their boats out of the water to avoid the downpour.
“It was really sunny when we first got out here,” said Brock Roorda. “The clouds rolled over and we were tied up at party cove and knew it was time to get out when the clouds rolled in.”
But many didn’t let the rain ruin their Memorial Day weekend celebration.
“We have a good time always,” said one woman at Lake Lewisville.
