Street Shutdown by Falling Glass

Window washer accident shuts down downtown Dallas street

Emergency crews shut down Field Street at Ross Avenue in downtown Dallas for several hours Thursday after a window washing accident sent shards of glass falling from a building.

Scaffolding from a window washer malfunctioned causing the equipment to slam into the 45th floor of the Fountain Place building.

Five large panes of glass broke sending pieces of glass falling onto Field Street.

No injuries were reported.

Lt. Anthony Williams says engineers were being consulted.

The platform dangled about three-fourths of the way up the 60-story Fountain Place office building, known for its angled configuration, reflective glass and water garden.
