Stepmother Gets 99 Years for Role in San Antonio Boy's Death

A San Antonio woman has been sentenced to 99 years in prison for her role in the 2012 death of her neglected 5-year-old stepson.

Crystal Williams showed no emotion as a state district judge read the jury's decision Tuesday. The 31-year-old pleaded guilty last week to injury to a child, admitting she denied medical attention to her stepson.

She was the first of three adults to face trial in the case.

Investigators say Josiah Williams was found dead in the family's home. According to testimony, a Bexar County medical examiner's office autopsy listed dehydration to a battered, undernourished body as the cause of death.

The boy's father and step-grandmother are also charged with injury to a child and are awaiting trial.
