Southlake's Great Pumpkin Theft

A Southlake family woke up Monday morning to find its 100-pound pumpkin missing.

The Bishops were very surprised that someone was able to take the giant pumpkin from their front lawn in the middle of the night.

"How could they lift that big pumpkin?" Cynthia Bishop said. "It had to be more than one person, or they have to have pulled up in a car."

The Bishops moved to Southlake about six weeks ago and wanted to make their first Halloween in their new house special. Their entire front yard is lit up, and the huge pumpkin added to the fun.

Their 7-year-old daughter, Harmony, was really excited about the display and liked to sit on the pumpkin.

Scott Bishop and his daughters were headed to school when they noticed the pumpkin had vanished.

"We were walking to go to school, and the pumpkin was gone," he said. "My daughter said, 'Oh my gosh, the pumpkin is missing."

So far, there have been no sightings of the 100-pound pumpkin.

But the Bishop family is taking the theft in stride.

"I hope they enjoy it," Cynthia Bishop said. "It is Halloween. Halloween is all about fun."
