Southlake Parks Board Member Accused of Continuous Sexual Assault of a Child

A member of Southlake's Park and Recreation Board has been arrested on a charge of continuous sexual assault of a child under the age of 14, police say.

Southlake police arrested 41-year-old Miguel E. Salinas on Monday following an investigation prompted by a report filed with police. Salinas is currently being held in the Keller Jail on $100,000 bond.

Citing an ongoing investigation, police did not reveal any further details about the investigation other than to say they have had no previous reports of misconduct involving Salinas.

Salinas has served as a volunteer member of the Southlake Parks & Recreation Board (Place 1) since 2015. His current term, according to the city's Parks and Recreation webpage, expires in June 2019.

"The role of the Parks & Recreation Board is to develop and recommend policy, park programs and projects to City Council through participation in open, public board meetings. All Parks & Recreation Board members are appointed to office by the Southlake City Council. The Mayor and City Council have been advised of this arrest and will review Mr. Salinas' status and continued involvement with the Parks & Recreation Board as this matter continues through the criminal justice system," police said.

The next City Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 19.
