There was no word on the extent of the damage to the bridge or what caused the pieces to fall.

We also don't know whether any vehicles were damaged.

A full closure of the southbound side began before 7 p.m., and by about 8:30 p.m. two lanes were back open. All lanes were open as of Saturday morning.

Texas Department of Transportation crews were inspecting the bridge late into the night.

At one point, the backup on the southbound side of I-35E stretched as far back as the interchange with Interstate 30.

A high-speed police pursuit that began Friday afternoon in Fort Worth ended in Dallas after the driver exited onto Riverfront Drive and became stuck.

Northbound lanes of Interstate 35E remained open throughout the evening.
