A South Texas woman accused of injecting women with fake Botox has been sentenced six months in jail and probation.
A judge in Edinburg on Tuesday sentenced Nohemi Gonzalez of Brownsville to a 10-year suspended prison term and the jail time. She was found guilty last week of two counts of practicing medicine without a license and one misdemeanor assault charge.
The proceeding was the last in the more than three-year case. Federal agents began investigating Gonzalez after a physician advised them of a trend of health issues he was seeing in women because of botched injections.
In those three years a myriad of issues plagued the court proceedings including a plea agreement that was thrown out and a continuance earlier this year.
