Pilot, Passenger Hurt in Biplane Crash

A pilot and passenger were injured during an attempted emergency landing of a biplane in northwest Tarrant County Wednesday night.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, a blue and white biplane crashed at approximately 7 p.m. near the 7600 block of Confederate Park Road.

That area is close to Silver Creek Road in an unincorporated part of the county.

Sheriff's spokesman Terry Grisham said Thursday that both men have injuries not believed to be life-threatening and were transported to hospitals. Their names and further details on their conditions weren't immediately released.

Grisham said the plane, an experimental aircraft made from a kit, crashed on a private gravel road as the pilot tried to make an emergency landing. Officials are trying to determine what prompted the emergency.

Grisham said the propeller ended up about 30 yards behind the wreckage.
