After years of advocacy from area residents and sometimes contentious debate, the city broke ground this week on construction of its first skate park.
Garland is giving Rick Oden Park a huge makeover, adding a 40,000-square-foot outdoor skate park, a new baseball field, and two miles of additional trails and sidewalks, among other upgrades.
