The westbound service road along Loop 820 in Haltom City is shut down after a large sink hole opened up in the middle of the road Sunday afternoon.

Police and fire now have the road closed, and are keeping everyone away for fear that the hole could in fact expand.

A spokesperson for the North Tarrant Express says the service road could be shut down for several days. Crews will be on scene Monday with heavy equipment to see how big the sinkhole is and what caused it.

Haltom City Police opened the westbound service road from Highway 377 to High Pointe Drive Sunday night to help with traffic. However all drivers will be forced to turn right onto High Pointe Drive, which will run into Haltom Road not far from Haltom High School. [[441199483, R]]
