Sherin Mathews' Sister to Be Removed From Foster Care

Sini and Wesley Mathews' biological 4-year-old daughter could be placed in the care of family in the Houston area at any moment.

This, after all parties agreed to have the girl taken out of foster care where she has been since shortly after 3-year-old Sherin Mathews disappeared.

Wesley Mathews, Sherin's adoptive father, was going to appear in court Monday morning, according to his civil case attorney David Kleckner.

Sini Mathews remains silent as she is guided out of a courtroom Monday by her attorney Mitchell Nolte. The next custody hearing has been set for Nov. 29.

It is not known why Mathews was not transferred from jail where he is being held on $1 million bond in Sherin's disappearance and death.

Attorney Mitchell Nolte, who represents Sini Mathews, released the following statement after the hearing.

For the record:

We are pleased with Judge Shannon’s decision to continue the hearing and give us more time to address the allegations against Ms. Mathews in the CPS case. We are still waiting on the CPS home study report and for the Ad Litem to make her report to the court. Then we’ll know where [her daughter] will be placed for the immediate future.

The Indian Association of North Texas held a vigil for Sherin Mathews on Saturday during a visit from the Consulate General of India in Houston.
