Authorities said a 65-year-old southeast Texas man has died after accidentally driving his tractor over a pipe that flew into the air and hit him in the head.
A Liberty County sheriff spokesman said Charles Lippold died Sunday in a field near his home in Tarkington Prairie.
The sheriff said Lippold was using the tractor to haul a hay bale when he reversed over a feeding ring made from aluminum pipe. A piece of the pipe fatally struck him.
Justice of the Peace Ralph Fuller pronounced Lippold dead at the scene.
